How to add musicbrainz to a server and use it.
Getting started
- Click Add to Discord, pick your server, and authorize. You need the Manage Server permission.
- Join a voice channel.
- In any text channel, type
/playand attach a file or paste a link.
The bot joins your voice channel and starts playing. Use /help to see the command list in Discord.
Commands
| Command | What it does |

/play link: | Same, with a YouTube or SoundCloud link. |
/pause | Pauses the current track. |
/resume | Resumes a paused track. |
/skip | Skips to the next track in the queue. |
/stop | Stops playback, clears the queue and leaves the voice channel. |
/queue | Shows the current track and what's coming next. |
/help | Lists the commands. Only you can see the reply. |
Use either file or link with /play, not both.
Playing files
Supported formats: .mp3, .wav and .flac.
Files go through Discord's normal upload, so your upload limit applies. Without Nitro that's 10 MB, enough for most MP3s but only a minute or two of FLAC.
Playing links
Supported sites:
- YouTube: youtube.com, music.youtube.com, m.youtube.com and youtu.be
- SoundCloud: soundcloud.com, m.soundcloud.com and on.soundcloud.com short links
Links to any other site are refused. If a YouTube link points to a video inside a playlist, only that video plays.
Limits
- Single tracks only. Playlists and live streams aren't supported.
- Linked tracks can be up to 2 hours long.
- The bot plays in one voice channel per server at a time.
- The queue is cleared if the bot restarts.
Permissions
The Add to Discord link asks for these permissions:

If a channel overrides these permissions, the bot may not work there.
Privacy
- Files and downloaded tracks are kept on the bot's server only while they're queued or playing, then deleted.
- The bot's server downloads links, so YouTube and SoundCloud see the server's address, not yours.
Troubleshooting
- The commands don't appear in the / menu
- Reload Discord with Ctrl+R (Cmd+R on Mac). If they're still missing, add the bot again with the Add to Discord button. You don't need to remove it first.
- "Join a voice channel first."
- You need to be in a voice channel when you use
/play. - "I'm already playing in #channel."
- The bot is playing for someone else on this server. Join that channel, or wait until the queue finishes.
- The bot joins but there's no sound
- Check that it has the Speak permission in that voice channel and isn't server-muted.
- "Couldn't download that link."
- The track may be private, removed, or blocked in the bot's region. Try a different link.
- Discord won't let me attach my file
- The file is over your upload limit. Use a smaller file or a compressed format such as MP3.
